Chicken Chinthamani – Traditional South Indian Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 500 g Chicken pieces
  • 150 g Shallots
  • 150 g Deseeded Dried Red Chilies
  • ½ TSP Turmeric Powder
  • Salt
  • 5-6 TBSP Gingelly Oil
  • Fresh Curry Leaves
  • 1 TSP Mustard Seed
  • Coconut Flakes
  • Water

Method:

Step 1: Start by cleaning the chicken, then cut the chicken with bone and boneless.

Step 2: Marinate the chicken with turmeric powder and salt and set aside for 15 Mins.

Step 3: Heat some oil in a pan and then add Mustard seeds along with some curry leaves. Let it splutter. Add in the deseeded red chillies along with shallots, sauté it until onions are soft. Now add the chicken and mix well, then add half cup water and mix it to combine. Close the pan with a lid and let it cook for 15 to 20 Minutes.

Step 4: After 15 Mins open the lid and stir this well.

Step 5: Now Keep another pan on the stovetop and add some oil, then fry some coconut flakes until it gets a nice golden colour along with some fresh curry leaves. Add the coconut flakes to chicken, mix well to combine. Sauté it for 5 minutes until the chicken is almost dry then remove from heat.

Now tasty and hot Chicken Chinthamani is ready. Serve it hot with rice.
